Trying to catch up

Some recent pages. And when I say "recent" I mean in the last two months or so. I'm so behind!!! I finished Halloween and started the first of two Thanksgiving pages last night. However...I haven't finished Summer 'o7.....it's overwhelming. And Christmas? Haven't even touched it."going home" is one of my favorite pages in a long time....so simple. so cute.

The "heaven sent" page above is for the family scrapbook, and the two page hospital layout is for Jack's baby book. I didn't have the kind of script lettering I needed and hadn't yet gotten my cricut....so I painted the script title/vines, etc. myself. I don't love my handwriting or anything, but I guess Jack will think it's cool later on in life. Or his wife will. Or husband. Or whatever. My sister gave me a gift bag with these little owls on it. I was more than happy to cut them off the bag and put them to good use!

Confession

Sometimes it just KILLS me to give away the gifts I make for people! Case in point - These shadow box frames I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. I just love how they turned out. I saw the frames at Michael's and loved how coordinated they were. They came with specimen pins for dead bugs and such, but obviously - I went in a different direction. Once I opened them up to start working, I realized that the backing was satin! I wasn't sure if I'd be able to adhere my pictures, papers, and embellishments successfully, but thanks to some awesome craft adhesive, it wasn't a problem.
Other bundles of cuteness that were hard to part with - these mini button bouquet's that I made for my sons' preschool teachers. How cute are they? It was the least I could do. Nothing says "thanks for not kicking him out" like a homemade gift. I have yet to post these in *my* Etsy store, but I have a feeling that once I do - I may just get some orders!

Before assembling these little bouquet's, I had to make a quick trip to the dollar store. Usually I detest the dollar store. I mean seriously, you walk in there and you can just smell the lead based paint seeping into your pores from all the made-in-china crap. I was there for gift bags. Sue me. For the record - the dollar store is THE PLACE for gift bags. But I digress. While I was there, I figured I'd see if they had any small vases that would work for the mini button bouquet's. My mom who had agreed to accompany me to this fine establishment, found small boxed sets of salt and pepper shakers. PERFECT! All I had to do was cover the threaded part with adhesive ribbon and a flower. They were the perfect solution. I stocked up on these little gems. At fifty cents a "vase," how could I not?

Welcome!

What a drab looking craft/scrap blog, right? I must redecorate. No one does white walls anymore.

I haven't been posting on my other blog as much as I used to. I guess I'm sort of an all or nothing type of person. It isn't that I don't have anything to say about my children - it's just that there's so MUCH to say - it's overwhelming. I have found myself only posting the happy little events that go on in their lives and not so much the day to day stuff. I mean really. How many times can I blog about the park? Or my husband's crazy work schedule? Or how impossibly adorable my baby is? Or what a challenge my middle child is? It just gets old. I mean, I've come to terms with the fact that I'm just not the type to blog about my sex life or which bills we just can't pay this month. Too personal.
So!
This blog will be about making stuff. Things I want to make. Things I have made. Things that I love and admire from Etsy and elsewhere. Scrapbooking. New techniques. Maybe some photography now and then.
So come on in. Get comfortable - bring your coffee, your glue sticks, and your opinions. But leave your kids at home. That's what I'm going to do.
